Aus is a small settlement in the IIKaras Region of southern Namibia, located in the Aus Mountains above the plains of the Namib Desert and while it might not be as internationally renowned, it offers unique attractions and experiences.
One of the unique attractions near Aus is the the wild desert horses. Roaming freely between Aus and Lüderitz, these feral horses have adapted to the harsh desert environment.

The best time to visit Aus, depends on your preferences:
During the winter season, May to October, Its best for wildlife viewing, especially the wild desert horses, as they tend to flock to watering holes.
As this is the high season, more visitors are expected and higher prices.
From November to April you can expect lush and green landscapes, contrasting to the arid surroundings. Occasional rain showers, with some roads inaccessible can be expected with fewer tourists and generally lower accommodation prices.
It lies on a railway line and the B4 national road, 230 km / 143 miles west of Keetmanshoop and about 125 km / 77 miles east of Lüderitz
Aus serves as the perfect stop-over for travellers journeying between the Fish River Canyon, Lüderitz, and the Sossusvlei dunes.
