Babylonstoren is a beautiful wine farm set in eight acres of majestic gardens, with the Simonsberg, Du Toitskloof and Franschhoek mountains as a backdrop. It is the ideal location to combine with a tour of Cape Town and the Garden Route.
Dating back to 1692, the once fruit and wine farm has been beautifully restored to a contemporary Cape Dutch-style hotel and working wine farm.
Some of the farm’s earliest structures from that time remain on the property today. Babylonstoren’s Cape Dutch werf (farmyard) is typical of the architectural style popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is considered one of the best-preserved farmyards in the Cape.
All of the more than 300 varieties of plants in the garden are edible or have medicinal value. From blood oranges to asparagus, mushrooms, and persimmons, the produce supplies the farm’s two renowned restaurants: Babel and the Greenhouse.
At Babylonstoren’s Farm Hotel, some of the existing farm buildings have been beautifully transformed into comfortable guest accommodations. The hotel features thick whitewashed walls, elegant ceilings, and cozy fireplaces, creating a classic farm stay experience.
The One-Bedroom Suites are open-plan and include four-poster king-size beds or twin beds, an en-suite bathroom, a comfortable couch, a small dining table, a pantry, a selection of books, underfloor heating, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The One-Bedroom Cottages are slightly larger than the suites. They include a four-poster king-size bed, an opulent en-suite bathroom with freestanding bathtub and shower, a lounge area with reading materials, underfloor heating, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a pantry. The cottages are either garden- or vineyard-facing and have access to the garden and the farm.
The Two-Bedroom Cottages accommodate four guests in two en-suite bedrooms with king-size beds or a combination of one king and twin beds. Other features include a dining and kitchen area, underfloor heating, a lounge with reading materials, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a well-stocked pantry.
The Farmhouse Suites feature a four-poster king-size bed, an en-suite marble bathroom with freestanding bathtub, a shower, and a walk-in closet. Additional amenities include bathrobes, underfloor heating, a cast-iron stove, a lounge with reading materials, complimentary Wi-Fi, a writing desk, a television, and a stocked pantry. These suites provide access to an outdoor swimming pool and a hot spa area, which includes a salt room, sauna, vitality pool, and lounge area.
The Manor House is an exclusive accommodation option with five bedrooms that can accommodate up to 10 people. Three of the rooms have king-size beds, while the other two have twin beds. Guests can enjoy a shared lounge with a fireplace and extensive reading material, a fully equipped kitchen, pantry, dining area, and a patio leading out to a well-manicured lawn.
The hotel facilities include a bakery, two restaurants, a wine cellar and tasting room, a fresh produce shop, and a spa.
The hotel's location offers guests the opportunity to visit some of South Africa's finest wine farms while exploring the beautiful valley of Franschhoek. Babylonstoren provides guests with unique experiences such as wine tastings, tea rituals, and exploring the eight-acre garden that is abundant with fruit and vegetables.

Great advice, responsive and knowledgeable!
Pascal John at Safari.com guided me on different safari lodges (experience, rating), and most importantly knew about specials (buy 3 nights, get 4th for free) which allowed my family to secure a 5-star location at a more reasonable rate. Great advice, responsive and knowledgeable!
