Kitich is a fabulous and convenient base for exploring the Northern Frontiers, The Mathews Mountains, The Ndoto Mountains , the Milgis and Lake Turkana… and visiting the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary on the southern slopes of the Mathews range.
Kitich Forest Camp is nestled in a truly remote and pristine wilderness, located in an exquisite forest glade on the upper slopes of the Mathews Mountains (also known as the Lenkiyio Hills). The Mathews, referred to as a "biological bonanza" and a sky island, is a massive range that rises up from the desert floor to over 6,000 feet.
This beautiful and enchanting camp features only six tents situated under a dense tree canopy, overlooking the stunning Ngeng River. The camp boasts a low-key, classic charm with en suite bush bathrooms, bucket showers, and flush toilets.
You can revel in exceptional experiences such as bush picnics, swimming in hidden rock pools, or witnessing Samburu culture. For the adventurous, you can try quad biking through luggas and across the Samburu landscape, visiting the local village or the vibrant market day at Ngelai.
At night, the atmosphere becomes magical as the glade is illuminated. Keep an eye out for elephants, bushbucks, and buffaloes as they come to drink at the river.
The price covers full-board accommodation (including filtered drinking water, soft drinks, house wines, and non-luxury spirits). Safari activities, such as guided bush walks and sundowners, are also included. Additionally, transfers to and from Ngelai Airstrip and laundry services are provided.

Leigh-Ann Croeser from Safari.com was fantastic
Leigh-Ann from Safari.com was great to work with to plan our group safari trip. She was able to get me on the priority waitlist for a lodge that I liked, which ended up working out for our group during my preferred dates. Leigh-Ann was responsive and provided various tour recommendations for us to decide on the best option for us. There were a few email and name typos from Leigh-Ann that I had to correct, but other than that, I had a great experience.
