Discover the wonders of Mapungubwe National Park, this park is a World Heritage site and s filled with history, wildlife, and spectacular beauty. Tucked into the sandstone-dappled valley of the Limpopo river, soared over by the Mapungubwe National Park's majestic eagle population, Leokwe Camp is modeled on the Vendan-style thatched rondavels and is the ideal, self-catering getaway.
Leokwe Camp is Mapungubwe’s main camp, located in the eastern section of the Park, 11km from the Main Gate, in the spectacular sandstone hills. Leokwe camp is unfenced and the necessary precautions need to be taken especially after dark.
Leokwe Camp offers guests adventure in the form of guided bush walks and game drives, morning, afternoon and evening, all under the supervision of well informed and keen professionals. Important to note is that children under the age of six are not permitted on game drives, and children under the age of twelve are restricted from game walks.
A two-to-three hour heritage tour is available on request, as well as the popular three hour tree top walk.
Facilities at the camp include an observation deck and bird hide, a picnic area, swimming pool built amongst the rocks, a sundeck, as well as a central braai area. Close to the camp guests can enjoy the Treetop Hide and the Confluence View Site & Picnic Area. The camp itself has a swimming pool and sundeck, as well as a central braai area.
