Not fully stocked kitchen - had to phone 3 times for a kettle.
Buiten dit, was dit regtig 'n aangename kamp ervaring. Sal weer daar gaan kamp.
We enjoyed the set up of the camp site although we got lost on return from the night drive and spent 35 minutes trying to find our house in the dark!!Loved seeing all the birds around the camp sight as well as the honey badger.suggest locks on the bins so that you don't awake to the rubbish all over the place each morningThe best camp for us.
Thanks guys, we could not sleep at Satara due to the distance from Nelspruit Airport , but you guys managed to get us a bed at Skukuza. Thank you very much.
An Amazing experience. Satara is a well located camp and our experience was fantastic. Clean and well worth it
We arrived at the gate at 1645 only to be told that there is not enough time to get to Satara...we are please requesting a refund as we had to pay again to stay at Orpen Restcamp. I feel that this should have been communicated to us. Orpen camp was very nice except no restaurant and we were not expecting that.
Thanks for fencing the fridges! There were only one hotplate in the communal kitchen which was very frustrating!
We enjoyed our stay. The evening drive was exceptional.
Thank you Satara for an unbelievable experience. We surely will visit your camp again soon.
Terrible camp. Will not recommend it to anyone. Big disappointment after Sirheni and Talamati.
The animals and birds was very nice and I took some nice pictures. The rest camp was the best of the 3 we stayed at.
We saw great game which was a wonderful. The chalet's were clean which was a great improvement on our previous visit. One problem was that the beds at Satara were extremely uncomfortable, being rock hard and the pillows were also very hard. The sheets also did not fit the beds properly
Sal help as daar meer warm water by badkamers is.
Satara was exceptional. We were very lucky to have seen what we did, including Leopard and Honey Badger, and were fortunate enough to drive into the middle of the Buffalo and Elephant herds. The elephants at Orpen Dam were special. If you want good sightings you need to get out of the camps at first light and be returning at sun down. do your eating and shopping at midday. I prefer to drive my own car, rather than be driven by the rangers, but they are expert spotters and unless you have good eyes and drive slowly yo may miss a lot. We stayed for 3 days, I'm always sorry to leave Kruger Park.

No utensils available. Fridge outside in a lockable cage but I did not have a lock - should I have brought one??? No lions to be seen for miles!

Thank you for the excellent service at Satara Rest Camp. The staff were all so very friendly and attentive. The facilities were a wonderful surprise as I have not visited any of the Rest Camps before and had no idea there was so much available. The shop was excellent and had everything. The restaurant and the deck was great. A memorable experience. Just a suggestion to keep out the monkeys - place a latch on the outside of the verandah door so we can lock from the outside when we leave for the day. Also, our neighbours told us to turn our fridge to face the wall - maybe the staff can inform us on arrival. Thank you - I feel very proud of our park and congratulate all those involved in protecting this special place.
Camp site can be marked more clearly and more braai buckets can be put for campers.
Satara is awesome.Honeybadgers in camp raiding dustbins a problem that needs to be dealt with
The BD2N is a very well set up bungalow..I really enjoyed my stay there.

We had a very pleasant 6 days in Satara. The ablutions are not what they used to be 10 years ago, but still acceptable. Satara is a very good camp to stay for animal watching. Overall very enjoyable.
I completed a Satara review previously.
Accommodation was good (loved the idea of the safety doors at the fridge and cupboard).
I thought I was booking directly with the Kruger parks. I was disappointed when I changed a reservation and was told at the desk the agent I used charged 15% and that would not be credited to my change request. I still don't understand
The dirt roads was terrible. (bumpy)!!!!!! Needs seriously attention.
We realy enjoyed our stay here. Tevin took us on a lovely night drive and we managed to see some of the more unfamilliar animals. he is very knowledgeable. Unfortunately we did not see the bog cats that we are used to seeing around the camp, but this was made up by some exceptional bird sightings.
This was the best rest camp. Unbelievable game viewing - lots of cats. Bungalows nice and clean. I left some clothes behind in the wardrobe and the housekeeping staff were very efficient. The one problem was booking of the night drives. Firstly we paid for a sunset drive and then were 'not on the list' so were bumped from the night drive to the following evening. The driver was not very polite and simply said "Anyone not on the list needs to leave the vehicle" - which was not particularly 'customer friendly' when it was their mistake. The managers were much better, but I feel some feedback should be given to the game ranger who was quite rude.
The park, staff & facilities are superb. Well done! I strongly recommend it to everyone. One huge dampner on our trip was getting a R1500 fine for putting out head out the sunroof to view game. Like everyone else, we didn't read the rules, and got punished badly. We drove at the speed limit, picked up litter when we found it, etc, etc, but got the shock of our lives to get this fine. I strongly recommend that at the entrance, the staff tell you to read the rules and say the fines for disobeying are very high; or point out any rules that everyone would normally disobey. We specifically went in a car with a sun roof so we could see animals...totally unaware that it was illegal!
Best camp for seeing cats. Best facilities - only camp that showed movies. Sunset game drive was a disappointment
Wow,what a camp heard lion the whole night, staff are soooo friendly, they almost become your friends. The camp is so clean and we didnt even go for a drive Sunday,we enjoyed the camp. The playpark does however need a bit of attention, other than that, weldone people of Satara.
the weekend was great the only concern i have is about the poor service of the resturant and take away places in Satara.
Probably the better camps, on par with SkukuzaGreater diversity of roads to travel
Wireless internet facility needs to be made available (maybe for a fee)for tourists as they do not have local mobile based net connections. The food at the caf
The hot plates didn't work properly, and the fridge froze our food. The staff weren't friendly.
Accommodation is basic but that is not what I come here for. I feel like I enter another world in Kruger - it is the best place to unwind and regain perspective and I'll return again and again. The night drive was worth every penny and I highly recommend it.
The staff is efficient and helpful, the camp well maintained and the housekeeping very good. I would definitely return to Satara.
The service was excellent but was spoilt when we left Kruger Gate at approx 9am on 15 June. The lady at the gate was surly, rude and arrogant. We were all furious. It would be in your interests to remove her from a position which interfaces with the public.
Very nice camp and great after renovations. Clean bungalows and public areas with friendly. Although more modern than 30 years ago, it brought back fond memories from my childhood as they kept some of the old traditions and kept the "bush" ambiance.
We felt that the accommodation was over priced for what we got. There was a communal kitchen with 2 2 plate hot plates and 2 sinks. No micro and no pots. All cutlery and crockery had to be taken with us.Otherwise the huts were OK.
The accommodation was exceptional, much better than anywhere else we stayed.

Facilities are adequate and clean - we only stayed one night. Night game drive was very good and saw many animals.
A wonderfull camp, one of the best
As always I had an excellent stay at Satara. As usual, the S100 provided us again with a lion kill. The surroundings are superb for animal viewing. This is the second time a have used Accommodation Direct and will definitely use them again to assist when planning my trip.

We were satisfied with the facilities and the service.

Stara is in an exceptional position for diverse game viewing especially the cats.We love the camp and ambience there.
Vervet monkeys are a cause of big concern amongst visitors. Food is best stored inside the hut and the fridge has to be turned around so that the door cannot be opened. Urgent attention should be given to this problem.I did complain to the camp manager but nothing was done although she promised to give attention to it. Cleanliness is not up to standard.

very enjoyable. must stay much longer next time
Our stay at Satara was short of magic. The bungalow was great, and we loved the outside kitchen. The wild animals could be heard at night, and we felt very close to nature. I will definenitely go there again. In actual fact we are planning to stay over again in December when we will visit the Kruger Park for four nights.
As usual our stay was lovely. Whenever we come to Kruger, Satara is one of the camps that we stay at and I must say it is one of the best.
Dear Sir/MadamMy father and I recently visit the park for the fourth time in the last 18 months, we always have a fantastic time in the Kruger hence the reason for the number of visits. We visit Mopani from 29May-01June , Satarra from 01Jun-03Jun and Lower Sabie from 03Jun-05Jun.My COMPLAINT :Quality of meat sold in your shops is POOR to put it mildly, in the past I always used to bring my own meat with from Pretoria, but realized there is no reason to do so as the meat that was sold in the Park Shops where excellent and I said I will rather support the park shop with this as well.I bought Pork chops at Mopani shop that was rotten, I didn't even bother to take it back as I am on holiday and do not feel like having any dispute with anyone or any thing. We bought meat every night as I had no choice and I must be honest you guys should change suppliers as "Oom Kallie se slaghuis" is doing you damage.I must compliment the shop manager at Lower Sabie for exchanging two Hitec Shirts at Satarra camp witch was the wrong size and he exchange it with the biggest of smile and help....bravo and well done( I think his name is Johan vd Merwe)I will be back end of July again, until then "Go well Kruger and may you prosper"Kind regardsGustav ViljoenCapt Boeing 737-800 SAA
Had a perimeter chalet, view was stunning, had visits from an African wild cat, as well as hyaena and wildebeest walking past the fence. our welcoming party to the chalet on our day of arrival was a couple of dwarf mongoose and tree squirrels - very cute.
Satara is by far the best camp in the Kruger. This area has by far the most wild life to view and obviously then the most predators. The atmosphere in the camp is amazing. It offers all the wildlife and the peacefulness for a super holiday.
Satara is my favorite rest camp in Kruger, I visited Kruger the 5th time this year.BUT: The next day we had another stay in Berg-en-Dal rest camp. That was really terrible. The family cottage we got was not cleaned at all! Littering all over the house and dirty covers. Unfortunately the reception was closed already and in the morning we had to leave before it opened. So we couldn't claim. We're wondering that this should be the camp of the year. But anyway, we will come back to Kruger as it is always an amazing experience to watch the animals.Regards from Germany, Udo
Messed up the reservation. We requested 6 bungalows together and it didn't happen and we spent the time crossing in front of other bungalows and irritating the residents

We stayed in Satara Rest Camp for three days which is perfectly placed to explore the Kruger National Park. The bungalows are pleasant and comfortable but could do with some modernization. But easily the best thing was seeing the wild animals in their natural habitat with the help of the excellent park rangers we managed to see all the animals we expected and many more we hadn't.The trip was an unforgettable experience and I would recommend it to anyone....Fantastic !
saw one pride of 5 lions in 5 days driving all routes. Would like to have had a toaster and microwave both missing from our two bungalows.
The location of Satara is excellent for game viewing. Saw big 5

Really disappointed to arrive at Satara and find we were not booked in and the money had been taken from our account. Thought the amount of R850.00 per night was excessive. Accommodation was not up to scratch, old sink in the bedroom, no sink in bathroom for toilet. We will not go back to Satara.

I have one suggestion to make with regards to the accommodation fo a wheelchair user. I had difficulty to park my car so that there was enough space to get out into my chair on level ground. The parking bay should be a bit wider and there should be a paved area from the parking area to the braai and the dustbin. I had grat difficulty negotiating the curb stone from the parking area to the gravel area in front of the Rondavel. The ground is clay and when wet, not only tends to stick to the wheels, but also makes for moving around when braaing, a bit difficult.
Well done and great warm environment

We really like the camp location. It was best place to see the wild cats. We had a good view of the Lions and Cheetahs close to the camp site which we really enjoyed. The room was clean.Only complain is that the common kitchen should have at least few basic utensils..It difficult to carry knives and pots and pans if you are travelling from far distances. Also the restaurant the quality of food was average. Specially the Vegetarian variety was very less compared to Letaba Rest Camp. But none the less we had a great time. Thank you!
Enjoyed our stay very much!!
We had a great time, Thank you! We will be back.
We saw three cheetahs together and 18 lions over the week period. Seeing the Honey badger on our way out of the Park was a treat. The camp and the staff was as always friendly and efficient. You will see us next year again.

Only had one night but very good and did sunset drive. Spotlights on vehicle didn't work properly which was a bit disappointing but still saw good game

Satara has improved since our last stay. The staff was friendlier and more helpful. Unfortunately we seemed to have most of the abundant game that was around! Still the best camp to see the big 5, but I also found it extremely busy which is not something that we particularly like.
We had an excellent time. I love the upgrade of Bungalows at Satara. Thank you for a great experience. - Alison West

We stayed in a chalet - the kitchen is on the verandha - we got raided by monkeys - there seemed to be no controls in place to prevent this and all our food was spoilt - there was also something living in the roof - so we didn't sleep well at all - and I got bitten by a spider !!!! in the bed - we then had to cut our trip short so I could seek medical attention - i would not be keen to stay in that accomodation again

The few days spent in the Park was amazing. I use to visit the park frequently in the past but has relocated to another province and foun myself not being able to visit the Park in almost a deacade. Congratulations! The camps & especially the picnic sites was astonishing. The ablution facilities were clean and well kept. Most certainly enhacing the experience. The gas bottle & pan rental is a brilliant idea! The picnic sites were clean and the staff extremely friendly. However great it was we were extremely shocked at the speed with which people drive. Not only the guests tro the park but in particluar park vehicles. On saturday 28 April we were driving the main tar road between Satara & Olifants camp. We stopped at a few elephants very close to the road. As we were taking pictures a staff bus came speeing past at a speed of at least a 100km/h. I am not exagerating. Our car a Daihutsu Terios literally shook with the wind force created by the bus. The big mighty elephants got such a fright that they literally turned around a ran!!! I badly wanted to follow this person and beat him up. Not only did he put our lives in dabger but also that of every animal close to the road. I am also an Honorary Officer of The North West Parks & a Level 2 Guide. I am telling you that the sitaution he created could have turned the other way with the elephants deciding to fight instaed of flee and we would have had no change at all. I wish I can say that this is the only incident but it was not. However I do wish that the driver driving on that road on 28 April be actioned against.I remember the days were the park has speed traps? I didnt see one?As a suggestions have you ever considered getting the public involved in taking pictures or videos of the vehicles especially park vehicles, violating the park rules. I have seen the pictures at Satara taken by the publice and it is siad that fines will be issued. But how about actively promoting to the public to be on the look out for speeding park vehicles and reporting it. If you can get the park vehicles and contrator vehicles abidng by the rules their example will have won half the battle already of the speeding public. I do hope that soemthing will come of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Kind RegardsJohan van Rooyen
We enjoyed the Kruger very much. The bungalows were fine, but the restaurants and the catering there was very disappointing - especially for our two American guests.
Great camp with good ablutions. The only problem is that I think the restaurant was way below standard from what could be expected. The food we ate was good but expected a better selection with more high end choice. We also saw Sable which is not on your list - and an immature Bateleur Eagle.
Excellent stay. Superb location within the Kruger. Accommodation was fabulous, and I wish I had stayed for longer. Game drives were very good with great game viewing.

The facility was suppose to have a microwave, there was none. The rest of the stay was above average. The staff at reception was very unfriendly and there were hardly any meat in the shop. This is in the middle of nowhere, were do we have to do our shopping to have food for the evening?
