The private Ngoma Safari Lodge, is located on the edge of a plateau, offering endless views over the seasonal Chobe flood plain. Thereafter visit Little Machaba, an intimate oasis nestled in the riverine trees.

Overview

Each of the lodges & camps visited in this package is located in a private concession. Private concessions have numerous advantages over national or public parks such as limited tourist numbers per km2 and the ability to enjoy walking safaris, night drives as well as traditional game drives.

This is your chance to explore Botswana’s prized jewel, the Okavango Delta. Over 11 000 km3 of seasonal floodwater travels from the neighbouring Angola Highlands to fill this inland river basin to create a home to more than 2 000 plants, 450 bird, 65 fish and over 200 000 large mammal species.

A biome is a community of animals and plants that share common characteristics for the environment in which they live. Biomes can include a variety of habitats and as such, support different animal and life forms. This package covers several biomes enabling you to enjoy a wide diversity of wildlife in a single trip.

Day 1 - 2: Chobe Forest Reserve

On arrival at Kasane Airport you will be met for your road transfer to Ngoma Safari Lodge.

Enjoy two nights in an area known as ‘the Eden of Africa’, Ngoma Safari Lodge perches on a ridge overlooking the Chobe River and floodplains; offering never-ending views and the opportunity to explore the wildlife by river or game drive.

Chobe Forest Reserve just 3km from the Chobe National Park (a region renowned for its outstanding wildlife, in particular the famous Chobe Elephants, and home to more than 75 mammal and 450 bird species), Ngoma Safari Lodge commands awe-inspiring views over the Chobe River and floodplains.

The lodge’s central area includes a well-appointed sitting room, dining room and bar area as well as a plunge pool.  Each private river-facing suite offers quiet refuge, and is one of only eight luxuriously styled and spacious lodges, each complete with bath, indoor and outdoor showers and a private outdoor living area with a “refresh and relax pool”.

Due to it’s location in the Chobe Forest Reserve, the lodge can offer game walks with a professional guide as well as night drives. Activities include full day safaris comprising a drive in the Chobe National Park, a cruise and a picnic lunch, day or night drives, walks and birding.  Visits to the local village may also be arranged.

Ngoma Safari Lodge, developed with the Chobe Enclave Conservation Trust, is committed to making a sustainable difference to the local communities and their environment.

Day 3-5: Okavango Delta

Today after breakfast, you will be transferred to Kasane Airport for a scenic light aircraft transfer to the Khwai Airstrip. On your arrival you will be transferred to Little Machaba Camp for your 3 night stay.

An intimate camp with only 4 eco-luxury tents, Little Machaba is ideal for a private getaway. Revel in the abundance of wildlife on a game drive or soak up the sounds of Africa at night around a campfire.

Little Machaba is situated in the game rich Khwai area. The Khwai Concession is a 180 000 hectare reserve situated in the north eastern Okavango adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp is built in the classic 1950’s style, with luxury safari tents, en-suite bathrooms and living areas, not forgetting the romantic outdoor showers. All the tents are situated on decks and the pathways to the tents meander between the large riverine trees. The Main dining and bar area are also on wooden decks overlooking a large flood plain.

Activities include Morning and afternoon/evening game drives - They usually last about three hours each and are conducted along the river systems and flood plains around the camp, Guided walking safaris - the walks are leisurely and time is taken to observe the smaller things in the bush that one normally misses when driving. Walking is weather dependent, or dependent on the condition of the terrain and Mokoro Safari - This is a dug out canoe poled by an experienced poler in the shallower waters of the Okavango. It is a great way to see the waterways and is tranquil and quiet. These excursions take place in the mornings or longer day trips can be arranged. Explore the islands around camp and come back rested and rejuvenated.

Accommodation: Little Machaba

Day 6: End of Safari

After breakfast, you will transfer to the airstrip to enjoy another scenic flight back to Maun over the Okavango Delta. You bid farewell to the delta as you begin your journey back home.

I have not completed my trip yet but I wanted to leave this review anyway for DOROTHY who has been nothing short of amazing helping me plan the trip of a lifetime. From the minute we started our conversation she has been very patient, courteous and helpful. Her customer service skills are excellent and her thoughtful recommendations have made me feel at ease every step of the way. If this is a reflection of how the trip will be than I am beyond excited already to enjoy it! Thank you, Dorothy!

This Travel Firm is Ready for You!
We have completed the preliminary reservations with this amazing travel firm. Thank God they exist! We would never have been able to figure out how to put the pieces of our trip to AFRICA together without them. They are patient, caring, detailed, and responsive to communications…something you expect, but do not always receive when service is involved. Connect with them via email if you are even thinking about going to Africa. Cheers!

First time to Cape Town
We are a group of ten friends traveling together to Cape Town for the first time. Safari.com was our top choice for travel agents. Leché and Tracy were incredibly helpful and prompt with our questions and bookings. The trip to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve was fantastic, and everything went off without a hitch. We highly recommend Safari.com for your safari plans!
