WHEN

Benguerra Island offers a tropical paradise setting. which also means it has two seasons, the dry season (April to October) and the hot season (November to March)

The dry season sees cooler temperatures and less humidity, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F). It's a great time for diving and snorkelling as the water visibility is often better.

The hot season is more humid daytime temperatures often exceeding 30°C (86°F) and brief but heavy afternoon showers.

Despite being the wet season, it's a fantastic time for birdwatching as many migratory birds are present on the island. However, the increased humidity and possibility of cyclones during these months (especially January to March) might not be ideal for every traveller.

Diving & Marine Life:

  • Best Visibility: April to September offers the best underwater visibility for divers.
  • Whale Watching: Humpback whales migrate through the waters between June and October.
  • Turtle Nesting: Green and loggerhead turtles nest on the beaches between November and February.
  • Peak Tourist Season: July and August. It is particularly popular due to school holidays, so you may encounter more visitors during this period
