In the southern part of Namibia you will find the Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa. It's a place of natural beauty and geological significance.
The canyon itself stretches over 160 km 99 miles long and up to 27 km / 17 miles wide and in some areas it is approximately 550 meters / 180 feet deep. Providing the main attraction, Fish River Hiking Trail. It is a challenging trek that takes hikers through the winding maze to the heart of the canyon, providing a closer look at its unique beauty, geology and iconic landscapes.
Besides hiking, you can explore the region by various activities, such as mountain biking and scenic flights over the canyon. The mountain zebras, kudu, springbok, and wild horses are easily spotted in the canyon despite the dry nature of the region.
The wildlife coupled with the unique landscapes of the canyon makes this a photographer's paradise.
Fish River Canyon is a great destination to visit year-round, but to experience all the region can offer, the best time to visit would be from May to September.
The weather is cooler, which allows more outdoor activities. The skies are clear and dry providing memorable game viewing, as the animals congregate around waterholes. From November - April, the landscapes are greener but there are fewer chances to spot the desert-adapted wildlife as they tend to not congregate around watering holes.
The Fish River Canyon has become a popular hiking destination and attracts different visitors, therefore providing accommodation ranging from luxury lodges to rustic camping sites.

This Travel Firm is Ready for You!
We have completed the preliminary reservations with this amazing travel firm. Thank God they exist! We would never have been able to figure out how to put the pieces of our trip to AFRICA together without them. They are patient, caring, detailed, and responsive to communications…something you expect, but do not always receive when service is involved. Connect with them via email if you are even thinking about going to Africa. Cheers!

First time to Cape Town
We are a group of ten friends traveling together to Cape Town for the first time. Safari.com was our top choice for travel agents. Leché and Tracy were incredibly helpful and prompt with our questions and bookings. The trip to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve was fantastic, and everything went off without a hitch. We highly recommend Safari.com for your safari plans!

Safari booking
Fadiel was very prompt in responding to my emails. Despite a double booking for our Safari - not his fault - everything worked out well in the end.
